We would like to wish all members of the Self Storage Association of Australasia a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. There is little doubt that this was a better year than last year and our company continues to grow.
We were honoured and humbled at the SSAA Convention and trade show on the Gold Coast to be awarded “Service member of the year” we did not expect to win. We were so happy to see our customers also win in their categories as well.
This year our staff has grown by three, Daniel, Jarrod and Curtis all new staff members in various roles. In November, Lee our long-term technical support engineer moved on and we were sad to see him leave, but with a move to our new offices in Loganholme, public transport is non-existent making the journey each day too long for him. We wish him well.
November was a busy month with us moving offices and a new much larger office at Loganholme is conveniently located on the M1 motorway not only for staff but for visitors. We have three times more room than we did at the Strathpine office. Our offices feature state-of-the-art security, with access control to technical and engineering and accounting areas providing security for staff and visitors. If you’re in the area call in and have a chat!
In July we sold our interest in AccessEzy passing it on to Evan at Alarmquip who is doing a fantastic job servicing our customers. SiteLink Web edition this year added many new features including intelligent CRM and SiteLink’s new eSign™ technology – finally delivering the paperless lease agreement. These are stored for seven years.
WebStor, our website brand delivered many new self-storage websites and we are now the largest provider of websites for Self Storage operators in Australasia. We fine-tuned our SEO plans and Web Care plans to deliver even better service so that our website customers could define their marketing budgets.
We participated in the annual ISS world Expo at Las Vegas in April as an international speaker and we also participated and spoke at the Asian Expo in Hong Kong, joining 20 or so other founding members of the new Asian Self Storage Association. We are very proud to have been part of this new Association which comes after two years of the Asian Expo, which we were cofounders.
2015 will be a challenge for many Self Storage operators as consolidation by larger groups continues and the gap between professionally run Self Storage organisations and smaller Self Storage businesses increases. Technology plays a major part in this gap with larger players using revenue management tools combined with organic and search engine marketing techniques on the web to drive business to their websites, answered by call professionals and then followed up diligently by professional salespeople. It’s certainly not like the old days where you just had to answer the phone. We look forward to providing new products and new services to the Self Storage industry in 2015 as market leaders.
