The 11th-13th of August 2015 will see SSAA members embarking on an exciting two and a half day summit at Uluru. Designed specifically to suit self storage owners and managers this boutique event will be held at the Voyagers Ayers Rock Resort which is located in the beautiful Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park.
Accommodation options negotiated for SSAA members will be at the 5 Star Sails in the Desert. This hotel forms part of a complex which boasts facilities such as the Red Ochre Spa, 4 swimming pools, the Mulgara Art Gallery, 2 tennis courts and a Resort Shopping Centre. There are also plenty of off-site activities to enjoy such as a base walk of Uluru, a Harley Davidson ride, a dune tour on camels, 4WD tours and scenic flights.
One of the most eagerly anticipated events of the Summit will be the Sounds of Silence dinner; an award-winning dining experience that has been entered into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame. Enjoy four remarkable hours under the stars with a bush tucker inspired buffet, traditional dance and star-gazing.
Speakers confirmed for the 2015 Summit include:
• Bernard Salt, Futurist
Widely regarded as one of Australia’s leading social commentators, Bernard Salt is a partner with KPMG, writer for the Australian and adjunct professor at Curtin University Business School. He is well-known for his ability to identify and predict new social and business behaviours by using demographic statistics. An experienced and compelling speaker Bernard makes insightful and factual observations that are highly relevant to the direction of a given industry.
• Nigel Brennan, Survivor
Kidnapped by teenage criminals (along with a colleague) while working in Somalia as a photojournalist in 2008, Nigel’s story is an extraordinary one. He recounts his life changing experience as a hostage in one of the world’s poorest countries. Suffering both emotional and physical torture he and his fellow captive attempted escape but were recaptured and chained around the ankles for the following 10 months. After spending 462 in isolation mostly in a room 3 x 5 meters they were both eventually released. This was no thanks to their respective governments who refused to pay the ransom totalling US$600 000, but due to the tireless efforts of their families. Nigel’s tale is one of resilience, strength, determination and the will to live.
• Craig Davies, Creative Consultant and Entrepreneur
After studying creative industries Craig created his own advertising agency and went on to make some of the world’s best known companies such as P&G, HSBC, Unilever, Coca-Cola, Shell, Nokia, Sony, Toyota, Kraft, Ford, Saatchi & Saatchi driving creative forces. An adjunct Professor at UTS Craig has also been President of Cannes Festival, AdFest and a juror at every major international advertising show. Craig speaks about creativity as a renewable resource which relies on consciousness, culture and skills development rather than any God-given gifts.
SSAA 2015 Summit promises to be both unique and memorable, bringing together the best business minds in the industry in a rich cultural and natural setting. Take this opportunity to cross Uluru off your bucket list in the best way possible (a tax deductible holiday).
